Thanks Lowe! Everything is back to normal pretty much around the Chicagoland area except there are still some electrical and cable outages and some roads closed. The flooding was pretty bad in some areas, especially near the rivers.
My son's HS still has no internet access (going into the the 2nd week of school) because the internet cable company they are connected to still have some of their bunkers totally underwater! They also have no air-conditioning because of a lightening strike during the storms. (Hot times in the city...it's still running close to 90F around here).
And these storms, while definity strong, were no where near as devastating as something like Katrinia. I simply can't imagine what the people who went thru that had to endure.

Yeah...I know you were referring to the little moustaches! Lol. I was just commenting in general about the Hitler footage! Lol. It's really weird...this vile little dictator jigging about and grinning...makes you heave!
BTW...they used to keep the Hitler effigy in London's Madame Tussauds in a glass case because people kept attacking it! LMAO!
OMG...Adloph Hitler, movie star...ever seen that footage of him doing that little dance in his Austrian hideaway in the moutains? He ain't no John Travolta! LMAO!!!!
Empire indeed...the New Cross Empire, The Hackney Empire and the Golders Green Empire...actually those we're all London music halls back in the good ol' days even before my time!...But...we still have the Empire, Leicester Square! LMAO!!!!
Ahhh...the good ol' British empire *she says sarcastically*!...where Britannia ruled supreme and took over most of the globe BEFORE Hitler!
Good Grief! How ridiculous can they have been? Where the heck did they go to school? Britain has such an incredible history and worldwide strength! How could they have thought it was a tiny place? Back in it's glory days....it was the EMPIRE!!!!
The US IS huge. It takes about 6 hours to fly in a jet across it from the East to the West coast. And it would take probably a week to drive across......and that's going 80mph...........

Maybe...but you know what? England isn't that small...it's just that the United States is BIG! Lol. A lot of people get the idea that because we're an island we're literally an island like small, small but we're not! Lol. Years ago when the Osmonds first came to Britain they thought they'd be able to see ALL of England in one hit from their plane as it touched down at Heathrow because they were told we are a small island...they also thought London would be coverd in fog and the streets were cobbled! how dumb is that! LMAO!!!!
Wow! That's interesting. England itself is much smaller than the states. I wonder if there are more tornado formations but that they don't have time to touch down like they do here because of the land mass size??
In the US there is a swath of area called Tornado Alley because most tornados touch down in that area. Illinois is in Tornado Alley.

You won't believe this but the uk has more tornadoes per year than the usa! They may not be as forceful as the American ones but apparently, according to the experts and meteorologists, it's true! Lol.
I agree with you there Bon but over here in the uk we never have a normal summer...in fact we don't have a normal anything! Lol. I've been freezing cold in the summer and hot in the winter! Lol.
Well, personally, I believe it's a global cycle. When we built our house 20 years ago, the midwest was in a major drought. It lasted for 4 years. And it was terrible. The past several years have been the typical summers that I remember from childhood but about every 10 years we'll have a year where it's all rain. What was freaky about this storm was the amount of tornado activity. We usually get this stuff in April and May. But, August??? No one was expecting this around here at this time of the year. They are saying it has to do with the two different hurricane systems that have been around down South. Who knows? I just hope things get back to normal around here soon!

Here in London and the uk we haven't had much of a summer just humidity and lots of rain and flooding! It's August bank holiday and the Notting Hill carnival here this weekend and you can bet it will be crap weather! Lol.
Thanks again everyone. Life is slowly returning to normal around here but areas are still flooding. It rained yet again last night. I swear it's been Monsoon season in Chi-town all week. But! At least, where I'm at....the sun is trying to peak out and that's a very, very, very good thing!

I'm so glad that you and your family are ok. I saw it on the news. I am sure it was very scary for you. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but glad you are ok.
It was. It really was. Especially when my son called to say his school was on lockdown and the kids were stuffed into the hallways like sardines and also knowing that my hub was stuck on a major Highway in Chicago and not able to get to safety.
Here's a link to a story about the storm and the cleanup going on today if anyone is interested (look how it has 'weatherman' in it....lol). And thanks everyone for the prayers. They worked!
If you click on some of the links from there you'll see the flooding and wind damage througout the area. Chicago and it's suburbs are a massive area in size....so you can only imagine how many and how huge the storms were that hit.

Like I said....thanks guys! I'm used to bad Midwestern storms but wow....this really was a freaky fast storm and it's been storming on and off ALL day and night now. Usually you'll hear about maybe one or two funnel clouds being spotted but I swear all of the Chicago area was getting hit. There's alot of wind damage and everyone is under flood watches because of so much rain over the last couple of days. However....Dave Spritzer is calling for better weather over the weekend......LOL!

Don't forget to get the Spritz Nipper next time!...hopefully there won't be a next time but you know what I mean! Hee hee! Oh and BTW...don't forget Toto and your ruby slippers and the words to 'Over the rainbow'!
Ah.....at the very least...you and Dave brought a smile to my face!
Anyhooo...thanks ladies for the prayers and powerful thoughts. They worked! Everyone got home okay. My son's school went to lockdown and he was stuck there for a couple extra hours but finally they let the students go. It took my hub twice as long to get home from his office because there was so much debris and flooding in the area.
It's been a bad couple of days here weather wise. I've never seen a daytime sky turn black within a minute's time. Freaky....
Anyway....more storms have been rolling thru and we've got our flashlights at the ready and candles lit. We're lucky in that we installed a generator that will kick on and keep the family room and kitchen functioning if the electrical power goes out. And we also have an extra deep and large basement to run too if it get's bad again.
I was just so scared for my son.........Thanks again everyone! I appreciate all of you and your prayers.

Thinking of you and sending you hugz and good vibes over the pond to Chi Town Bon from Olde London Town. I hope you and yours are safe and well. Those tornadoes are buggers!
Where's Dave Spritz when you need him eh?! Just thought I'd cheer you up there Bon!
I'm sending you one! hope you guys are ok over there, it must have been really frightening for you, keep us posted that everything's ok. Is it the time of the year now for the tornado's and bad storms?, i know you have a season where you can get quite a few of them. We will keep our fingers crossed for you and send out prayers.
Ye gads guys......it's been a wild afternoon where I live. A bunch of tornadoes decided to hit the area with no warnings. I had just taken my daughter and her two girlfriends to the mall (only about 3 min from my house) and had given them a half hour to run in and get whatever they couldn't live without.
It was 92F when I parked the car in the parking lot. Within about 10 minutes the temp had dropped outside to 65F and as I sat there waiting....I watched the darkest, greenish storm move just south of where I was....maybe a half mile away..... Next thing, the rain was coming down SIDEWAYS and the trees in the parking lot were bent over almost to the ground. Geesh....and here I was stuck in the car!
It was over in less than 10 minutes in my area but wow.....what a wild ride! And now....it's quiet HERE.
I've got the TV news on and the newscasters are listing all of the damage inflicted across Chicagoland. Apparently there were several tornadoes and high winds that hit all at once in this area. And they are expecting more to hit over the next hour or two.
And just NOW my son called from school and said that the sirens were still going off where he's at and that the kids were all huddled in the hallways AND right after his call....my hub called to say he was stuck on the expressway trying to get out of downtown Chicago which was getting hit with a severe thunderstorm with tornado rotations.
So....um...guys....could I ask you all to send up a prayer or two? Thanks. I really appreciate it.
Damn....now the news reported that a tornado did touch down about 3 blocks from my son's school. I'm scared guys.
