Hey gang, more good news with my ongoing quest to put in a Library for the Wounded Soldiers! I had emailed Bret Michaels, the lead singer from the band "Poison" and star of VH1's "Rock of Love", letting him know about my library. I just received this back from him! I am simply amazed at how these Celebs are helping me out with this!! Granted, this was just a short email from Bret, but still!! (-:
So now I can add Bret Michaels too the list, along with John from Five for fighting and several other big guns!!

Hi, my name is Darcy Quinlan, SPC (P) Darcy Quinlan. I am in the US Army and in the Wounded Warrior in Transition Battalion here in Fort Hood. The unit I am in is for those Soldiers that were injured in Iraq or in the line of duty and need special care in recovering from an Injury or the like and are more than likely going to be put out of the service under Medical conditions. How does that concern you? Well I am trying too set up a Library for my fellow Soldiers and I. One that offers not just books, but CD's and DVD's where one can sign the item out and hopefully take their minds off the trama they not only went thru but are still going thru. I am not asking for money, just any used books, movies and music that one can donate too the Library. So far I have had an amazing turn out from people around the world wanting to help us. I have talked with John O., the lead from the band "Five for Fighting", after talking a few times, John had his Manager Gillian send me a box of CD's that he made just for Service Members. I have also had several Authors pitch in and send not only signed copies of books they have authored, but also publishing companies are sending several boxes of books as well!
If you could also help out, I know how greatful the Soldiers will be. It is very hard when you have nothing to do but go too Doctors Appointments and undergo operations and treatments and then are told you can no longer serve your country, very stressful and many of the Soldiers suffer from Depression due too this. If I can put together this Library and a Soldier can take their minds off things in a good way for just an hour a day, then I will be happy. Getting lost in a story, taking a journey into another world, one without guns, blood and war..that is priceless and a lifesaver!
So if this message can get out too as many folks as possible, if we can give back to those that have fought and protected our lives without question, think how huge that will be.
Any donations (again, I am not looking for money), can be sent too me at:
Well I found out who it was. An Author friend of mine named "Mark Kearney". He had talked to his Publishing company and they wanted too help. He also is sending me a signed copy of his most recent book "Twisted Obsession". Very cool of him!!

what a great start to your library, sounds like there are some wonderful classics there. I hope they take the soldiers on many a journey where they are fully swept away and engrossed by elsewhere, and maybe when they come back, they will find reality has shifted a little, because it contains a new potential of being elsewhere. Doing it anonymously, that is true giving. Without expectation of thanks. A beautiful soul.

A few minutes ago, I just experienced an emotion that left me with a warm fuzzy! Ya'll know that I am trying to set up a Library for my fellow Wounded Warriors right? You also might recall a few weeks ago the request for donations in the form of books, music and movies. Well I just opened a box filled with books, not just any type of books..but great classics like Dickenson, Jack London, Homer and even Bram Stockers "Dracula" as well as self help books! The books came from the Townsend Library company, but what is odd..the sender did not put his or her name! These books are brand spanking new, never used! Now I do not know if the sender was someone from here or from one of the other sites I posted my request on, but who ever sent this wonderful gift of books (at least fifty books!), THANK YOU..you have shown me that their are still folks in the world that want too help other humans without asking for anything in return. Right now, I am sitting here in quiet amazement and gratitude. The Soldiers are going to love the books and maybe by being able to get lost in an adventure with Tom Sawyer, or the War of the worlds, they might just have a better day instead of focusing on the pain and worry and for some, the shock of being in war. This is simply priceless! Again, whomever you are, you have my gratitude forever!
And for those that might have missed the email a few weeks ago, and would like to donate either books, movies and music (the items do NOT have too be new btw), please send your items to me at:
Darcy L. Quinlan Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion Bldg. 4231 Fort Hood, TX 76544
God Bless and thanks, Darcy
