RE: Did the earth move for you?

Everyone around here felt the quake, most people were woken with their beds shaking, some people have said things were rattling and falling off shelves!
It's the most action my bed has seen in a while! wink.gifbiggrin.gif
But seriously, it has left me feeling very....edgy. I think I have quite a good awareness of the transience
Of life, and how small we all are compared to the earth, the galaxy, infinity. But, this has really wobbled me! What with this an the lunar eclipse, I'm all over the place!
dizzy.gif Perhaps I'm picking up on the energy of everyone else too, confused.gif
I don't drink, but I could have done with a shot of Jamesons! wink.gif

Did the earth move for you?

Er... no, but the sky did fall on us. We've been getting flash floods across the eastern region of Australia for most of the past month. The state of Queensland was the worst hit (Some towns getting literally flooded waist high with evacuations and extensive water damage), but in the past two days, Sydney is getting its share with a month's worth of raining falling within the space of only a few hours.

It's funny, the world is getting a lot of whacky weather these days. You guys are getting the biggest earthquake in twenty five years and we've just had the biggest storm in twenty years. And up in China, they were having severe snow storms about two weeks ago, which disrupted intercity travel because the trains literally couldn't move. Is all this really caused by global warming? Or are we moving into the next Ice Age?

I had just fallen asleep and woke up when i felt my bed being shaken really violently about 5 or 6 times! My heart started pounding because I thought someone must be in my room, I switched on the light and noone was there. I looked at the time and it was 1am. I really was frightened and I was trembling, I knew I didn't imagine it. Then I started thinking it might be a poltergeist or mischievous ghost! Somehow I managed to go back to sleep. This morning I've just found out there was an earthquake, the biggest in the UK in the last 25 years! It measured 5.2 on the richter scale. i'm quite a way from the epicentre, which was in Lincolnshire. So far I have only heard of damage to properties, and no injuries thankfully. Did anyone else feel it? Has anyone else from other countries experienced an earthquake before?
