I know it's daft isn't it?, this damn weather, it's like something out of that movie "Day after tomorrow", what with all this freak weather going on, mild one day, cold the next, snow, hailstorms, thunder and lightening, and that can be all in one week!, all this freak weather everywhere, blame global warming, well it is known that Man will destroy the world, and that is true in more ways than one
When the snow first appeared at the beginning of the week I was woken in the early hours by thunder and lightning! I wondered what it was...a thunderstorm in the middle of a snow storm! LMAO!!!
The most peculiar thing happened this morning around 6am, I was in a drifting sort of sleep, not heavy sleep but enough to hear whats going on around me sort of sleep. There was this ball of light, I mean it lit up the whole room white, I could even see it with my eyes shut and being snuggled under the duvet, then this almight clash of thunder and I mean it was loud sounded more like a bomb blast, I was waiting for the ground to shake...LMAO, I nearly fell out of bed with fright, I haven't heard thunder like that in a while, then it started snowing again, what the hell is with this weather???, joys of England.... Even Bec said this morning when she got up, what the hell was that clash of thunder for, just looked out of the window, and my god the snow is falling down pretty thick and fast now, just got rid of it, now it's back again
Been really icy on the roads today down my road, I couldn't get the car turned round to get out of my road as it's a block end turning, i was facing upwards instead of the way to get out, see quite a few cars stranded today, and they needed a push to get moving, so it was a bus day for me and bec today, wasn't at all pleased today, and they say more is on the way, deffinitely not looking forward to that again
LMAO, yeah I know what you mean hun, funny enough the main roads and the market was fine, it's the side roads that are the worse, trying to scrape about 6inches off my car and balance with the broom without sliding was a job in itself, the ice was really thick underneath as well, took me nearly an hour just to clear the windows of ice, snow and god knows what else, my fault for leaving it too long I suppose
I managed to find the 2 pics that i took, but alas no scanner now to put them up, will have to find another way, now it's getting really slippery out there now, and tomorrow I will have to brave going out and see if the car starts as I need to get to the bank and pay bills and do some shopping, this is the time when it's dangerous, when the snow turns to slush and freezes, I hate the feel of the car sliding so I will have to go real slow,
Kim I remember the Feb 1991 snow too! I took pics of my Dobermann, Thomas, he loved it he was running down the road and running around our garden trying to catch the snowflakes! I took some pics that year as well but they're still packed away in boxes!
I think it's rediculous that London comes to a standstill because of snow. Like Kim says Scotland and the north of England get it far worse than us EVERY year and they cope. I remember going to school in thick snow in the 1960's and we never got sent home. Everything has gone PC mad these days.
This is the worst that has hit the UK for 18 years, I remember that one, as I hadn't long moved into my house, and my garage/parking space is at the back of my house down the side entrance on a slope, where the snow drifted it was so deep, went right up the side of the garage and Nikki was only just turned 3 funny enough I think that was in February time as well it would have covered her if she had stepped into it, we was building snowmen and used one of my cooking strainers as a hat, I remember that one well, I will have to look for that pic, ahhh such sweet memories
NICe pics, have to admit, it does look lovely when it snows, I don't mind walking in it, it's when it turns to ice and it's like a skating rink that I don't like. The whole of London is at a standstill, it's suprising though, up North they have far worse winters than us and it's never brought to a stop, I think at times the south is never prepared for it. I had no bin or recycling collection today, my road is like a rink, I have'nt set foot outside the door today, no school again tomorrow for Bec either, not as though she minds
We had to go out this morning so we took the camera with us and took these pics on the way! It was amazing out today...because of the snow shops, banks and schools were closed and there were no buses on the roads and strangers were smiling and talking to each other and kids and adults were throwing snowballs.
I know, blasted weather, I had to go out to the car last night, to put some antifreeze in so not to freeze up, and it was just very light flurry, but damn it was Freeeezzzzzing I was only out there for about 5 mins or so, I couldn't feel my fingers, they soon went on the radiators when I got in.
Woke up this morning, and it's even worse, I can't hardly see my car, Bec had to go outside to get the brolly from the car, it was past her ankles, and it's going to get worse, she walked to school just after 8am but she was sent home, No School. She said it's quite bad out on the roads, cars slipping and sliding and so many idiots on the road as well.
I will see if I can get some NICe pics, when we do get snow, it does look lovely, just hate driving in it, this reminds me when I had to drive up Norfolk last november in it, I hated it then
