Ginny, unfortunately it´s the same everywhere...

Indeed you´re warm people. I have many Argentinian friends and acquaintances in Spain, and all of them are so affectionate and generous... and very cultured and smart on top of it!

Well said Bon!

Going off on a bit of a tangent here!...sadly rich people have tried to make drugs trendy with chocolate and champagne (a euphemism for drugs and sex!) parties...not that I'm experienced in such things! Lol.
So it's ok for the privelidged to party and get high snorting coke through rolled up bank notes but do these idiots realise it's mainly the ordinary people who have to suffer the consequences of drug addicts, it's the ordinary people that get mugged and robbed and it's the ordinary people who have their homes burgled and their posessions stolen.

You're right on target Corelli.  Drugs play a huge problem in societal woes.

Also, mental illness and the LACK of any kind of long term care for the mentally ill.  They are put out on the streets the minute medicine seems to take effect.  Then, being mentally ill.....they say to themselves, I'm doing okay.....I don't need to take my meds anymore, they go off their meds and basically life falls apart for them and they become homeless.

Homeless people become desperate.....similar to a druggie desperate for a fix.

And then....we in today's modern Western society have been teaching our young for years to have a sense of entitlement without working for things.  It's a Giveme, Giveme driven society these days.

IMHO....All these things are leading to a massive humankind fall.....on the scale of the Roman Empire falling.

Am I preaching here?   LOL!

You are right Les, here we say that criminals enter a door and get out from the next one. Something like that.

It's not only happening in Argentina Ginny...it's happening everywhere...
America, Britain, Europe...EVERYWHERE and anyone who says it isn't is
        seriously in denial!
The main culprit being drugs...these thugs will rob and steal from
ANYONE to get a fix and decent people are sick and tired of it.
The trouble is if and when these morons get caught they get solicitors
who get them off with a slap on the wrist because the judges and the
        courts hand out pathetic sentences.

This link shows FFC being interviewed after the robbery.  Someone actually got stabbed during the robbery.   I swear....some people simply are the lowest of low on the human rung ladder of life....

This story made the main news over here last night!
They showed Uncle Francis and he asked that the theives bring his computer back.

I hope he gets his computer back...all that work!
One thing that confuses me...it was stated that fifteen years of work has been lost but surely a man of FFC's calibre would make a backup?????

Oh dear I hope he at least gets his computer back and can go on preparing his movie.

I´m very interested in "Tetro" since it is said to be autobiographical and based on the Coppola family under an assumed name, so I´m sure somebody will be playing "nephew Nic".

Thieves raid Argentine home of Francis Ford Coppola

Thu Sep 27, 2007 5:35pm BST
[-] Text [+]

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Thieves broke into the Buenos Aires home of film director Francis Ford Coppola and made off with a laptop containing work on his new movie, an employee said on Thursday.

The Oscar-winning director of "The Godfather" movies was out when five thieves raided the house late on Wednesday, injuring a member of the production crew working on Coppola's next film, "Tetro," due to start shooting in February.

"Coppola is very sad and the only thing he's asked for is to get back his computer, which is essential for him and for his work," the employee, who was not identified, told a local television station.

She said the thieves took computers and other digital equipment including a camera.

Coppola, 68, is living in the Argentine capital during the making of "Tetro," which is expected to launch 2009. It is a story about an artistic Italian immigrant family in Buenos Aires and is said to be reminiscent of his life.
