Yeah, Nic wasn't there, although they did show a little 1second clip of him saying thank you (in the series of actors saying thanks before they showed who got "best actor")
I didn't see most of it, but the little bit I did see, was when the Coen brothers took theirs, and I had to laugh when a guy said although very good in the film business, not very good on speeches was his words
Once again, no sign of Mr Cage in any of the wins or nominations (acting wise)... But it was a nice ceremony; particularly as this year I was able to actually recognise some of the people that are in it. Normally it's more sort of "Oh, congratulations, whoever you are!" I guess I just haven't being paying enough attention. lol.
I only saw the second half of the ceremony, but I like what I saw; except for the host - don't know his name but his attempts at humour are very costly (to the other celebrities there). I remember the first thing he said after the Oscar for best song was presented was: That guy was arogant! (taking a jibe at the rather short speech made by the recipient) I didn't find his remarks to be very funny at all.
I like the tribute they put in in the middle, I never realised that that many people could die in one year! Yeah, ok many more people do die around the world every day, but when they put it together in a clip of sorts, it gives you a different feeling, and it's quite moving.
And that was just Rosemary, being Rosemary. I'll shut up now.
