Whenever i see this movie i can't sleep the hole night! Just P E R F E C T ! I think that he is the best romantic actor!....and action...and comedy !! I love his talent playing every movie especially romantic like this one
After seeing this movie, all I thought about was the next time I opened my front door I would see Nic standing there playing his mandolin *sigh* that would be lovely
Another of my all time favourites! Nicky looking sexy and scrummy as my darling WW2 Italian army Captain Antonio Corelli.
Set on the beautiful Greek island of Kephalonia this is a love story set against the backdrop of the second world war. The Italians are fighting alongside the Germans and are sent to occupy the Greek Islands and while in Kephalonia handsome Captain Corelli meets, and falls in love with, local girl Pelagia (played by the lovely Penelope Cruz) even though she is engaged to local man Mandras (Christian Bale). While Mandras is away fighting Corelli and Pelagia fall in love.
Beautiful scenery, a beautiful love story and tragic war scenes...this is one of Nicky's best movies.
John Hurt plays Doctor Iannis, pelagias father, and one secene that brings tears to my eyes is the one where the doctor tells Pelagia...
Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
